Lunch Meetings

Our monthly luncheon meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month and we will meet in the Ochs Room at Double Tree Hotel.

 

The ACFE will be having its meeting on Tuesday May 15th at the Double Tree Hotel.

Topic:   “The Role Individual Investors Play in Fraud, Ponzi Schemes, and Financial Corruption”

Crashes and panics are caused by a number of factors, including too accommodative government policy which create credit cycles, Wall Street manipulation to profit from such policies,  and  the corrupt financial ‘advisors' who swindle individual investors of their life savings. But every crisis also has a story of how many individual investor's own personal  greed played into their own undoing. This topic will review the history of market crashes and resulting panics, some of the more infamous Ponzi schemes,  the regulatory changes that have been enacted so far as a result of the 2008 Financial Crisis, and how investors can protect themselves from being a victim of investment fraud.
